State-owned electricity company PT PLN collaborates with PT CT Corpora (CT Corp) to develop green energy in business environment of the Jakarta-based consumer-centric diversified group of businesses.

The synergy is a form of PLN’s commitment in supporting the green energy in industry sector and business player in Indonesia as an effort to achieve net zero emission target in 2060 or faster.

The green economy cooperation is outlined in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Chief Executive Officer of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, and Chairman & Founder of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 in Makassar, South Sulawesi. PLN and CT Corp agreed to collaborate in infrastructure development of electric vehicle in business environment of CT Corp and clean energy service through renewable energy certificate.

Darmawan said PLN is ready to support the development of green energy implemented by CT Corp in its efforts to address the challenges of climate change and encourage the implementation of green economy.

“Our joint task is how to make sure the life of future generation becomes better than today. The journey of energy transition is difficult if we do it individually, but this endeavor can be more easily achieved if we do it in atmosphere of togetherness and collaboration,” the PLN president said in his speech.

“This measure is inline with a big dream of PLN to encourage electricity sector not only as the source of energy but also as a wheel to mobilize national economy,” he added.

Chairman & Founder of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung, appreciated the synergy in developing green energy in the electricity sector and beyond kWh. This is in line with CT Corp’s transformation effort into a greener company, one of which is realized by the use of electricity from solar-based renewable energy in three Trans Studio Malls located in Makassar, Bandung (West Java) and Cibubur (East Jakarta).

Chairul said that, through this MoU, CT Corp will accelerate green economy programs by providing amenities in all CT Corp outlets spread from Aceh to Papua.

“Of course we all understand that climate change is a challenge for all of us. This climate change causes changes in life patterns and in business patterns,” he said.

Besides support in green economy development, PLN through its PLN Icon Plus subholding also collaborates with CT Corp in the development of content streaming ICONPLAY products and telecommunications, multimedia & informatics networks.

“This cooperation is not only related to electricity issues. This is a breakthrough that PLN, which usually only works in the electricity sector, is now developing beyond electricity,” Chairul concluded.
