Indonesian private integrated mining and metallurgy company PT Trimegah Bangun Persada (NCKL) or Harita Nickel, booked a revenue of Rp 23.86 trillion (US$ 1.45 billion) in 2023, up 149.4 percent from the previous year. In addition, the company also recorded profit of Rp5.62 trillion in 2023, or an increase by 20.4 percent from the previous year.

The shareholders’ meeting held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 then agreed to distribute cash dividend of 30 percent of the profict or around Rp 1.6 trillion. The shareholders also approved the buyback of shares issued by the company in accordance with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regulation No. 29/2023. The company will allocate a maximum of Rp1 trillion or US$61 million for the buyback.

Harita Nickel’s President Director, Roy Arman Arfandy, emphasized the importance of strategic expansion in facing global challenges.

“We are committed to continue making prudent investment and development of production facilities that can increase volume and added value of our products. We will continue to maintain a healthy and strong financial position to anticipate future working capital requirements,” Roy said.

In the first quarter of 2024, the company’s nickel mine production was recorded at 5.88 million wet metric tons (wmt), an increase of 38 percent from the same period last year. Mine production came from two operating mines (PT. TBP and PT. GPS) while the remaining three mines (PT. JMP, PT.OAM and PT. GTS) are still in the exploration stage.

The High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) of associate company PT Obi Nickel Cobalt (ONC) facility construction project also showed significant progress. The first production line of this second HPAL facility has reached full production capacity by the end of May 2024. The second production line began operations in June 2024, while the third line is scheduled to begin operations in August 2024.

Harita Nickel together with its strategic partners has also established two new companies, namely PT Bhakti Bumi Sentosa (BBS) and PT Cipta Kemakmuran
Mitra (CKM). PT BBS aims to reduce waste from HPAL production by recycling and producing valuable products from the waste, while PT CKM aims to produce limestone into quicklime to reduce production costs from HPAL facilities.
