Indonesia was honored as the World Water Capital by Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council, during the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.

“Indonesia is the World Water Capital, and Bali is the global water center for this week,” Fauchon declared in his opening remarks at the Summit.

He expressed gratitude to Indonesia for its thorough preparation and warm hospitality in hosting the forum.

With 148 member countries, the World Water Forum (WWF) plays a crucial role as a Water Messenger, Fauchon noted. He extended special thanks to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo for embracing the role of Water Messenger during the G20 summit, reinforcing Indonesia’s commitment to global water issues.

Fauchon emphasized that being a Water Messenger is not sufficient on its own. He urged policymakers worldwide to inspire communities to enhance innovation, funding, and governance in water management.

“Messengers and warriors must fight − fight peacefully, fight for water security, and fight for prosperity,” Fauchon said.

He hopes that Indonesia’s role as the host of this year’s forum will mark a shift towards concrete actions in global water governance, aiming to inspire real change and progress in managing water resources effectively.
