PT Indosat (ISAT), a leading telecommunications operator in Indonesia, is set to initiate collaboration with technology giant NVIDIA in the third quarter of this year that will bring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to Indonesian enterprises through NVIDIA’s GPU technology.

Indosat’s subsidiary, Lintasarta, will serve as NVIDIA’s first cloud service partner in Indonesia, providing a comprehensive AI platform to local businesses. The project will commence in Q3 2024 with an initial batch of 1,000 GPUs from NVIDIA.

“This project will start in Q3 2024 with the first batch of 1,000 GPUs from NVIDIA,” Indosat management said in a public disclosure document.

Indosat and Lintasarta’s AI Cloud services will focus on developing sustainable, hyper-connected next-generation data centers equipped with AI capabilities.

As part of this collaboration, NVIDIA is investing US$200 million (Rp3.18 trillion), to build an AI center in Surakarta, Central Java.

Vikram Sinha, President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. He emphasized that integrating NVIDIA’s AI technology into the data centers operated by BDx Indonesia − a joint venture between Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Lintasarta, and BDx Data Centers − will be pivotal for Indonesia’s digital transformation.

“Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison aspires to be a key driver of digital democratization in Indonesia. Our collaboration with NVIDIA will play a crucial role in achieving this vision,” Sinha said on February 29, 2024.

The partnership underscores Indosat’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to foster digital innovation and enhance the country’s technological infrastructure.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost Indonesia’s capabilities in AI and cloud computing, paving the way for a more digitally advanced future.
