PT Hutama Karya (HK) reveals that they have absorbed 76 percent of the total State Capital Injection (PMN) amounting to Rp112.5 trillion (US$6.9 billion) injected from 2015 until 2023.

Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim, said the absorption of PMN was carried out to support the realization of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) development. Alongside this, Hutama Karya has established connectivity of 8 provinces, with a total length of the first phase of JTTS of 809 kilometers.

The total sections of JTTS that have been fully operational are 9 sections, including the Palembang-Indralaya toll road, the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road, and the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung toll road.

In order to continue the JTTS development, HK recently received additional PMN as approved by the Government through the 2024 State Budget (APBN) issued on October 16, 2023, and Presidential Regulation No. 76/2023 on Details of the State Budget Revenue and Expenditure for the Fiscal Year 2024.

“PMN worth Rp18.6 trillion will accelerate the development of toll roads in Sumatra, especially the completion of Phase I of JTTS, and continue the development of one of the JTTS Phase II sections,” Adjib said on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Of the Rp 18,6 trillion of PMN, Rp5.17 trillion will be used for the completion of JTTS Phase I, including Binjai-Langsa (Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Section), Simpang Indralaya-Muara Enim (Simpang Indralaya-Prabumulih Section), Kisaran-Indrapura  and Kuala Tanjung-Parapat (Kuala Tanjung-Pematang Siantar Section). The injected funds will also be disbursed to support the construction of the Lubuk Linggau-Bengkulu Toll Road (Lubuk Linggau-Taba Penanjung Section), Sigli-Banda Aceh and Pekanbaru-Padang (Sicincin–Padang Section), and Pekanbaru–Padang (Pekanbaru–Koto Kampar Section).

The other Rp13.42 trillion will be allocated for the construction of the 69-kilometer Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road (Palembang-Betung Section), which is included in the development of JTTS Phase II. The continuation of the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road is considered important because it is a backbone route connecting the Bakauheni Port in Lampung to Jambi.

HK claims that the realization of PMN provides a multiplier effect for several parties, from the government, society, to companies.

“The presence of JTTS can facilitate connectivity between Sumatra and Java islands, and regional economic equalization through increased job absorption during the toll road concession period, more efficient travel time, reduced transportation costs for goods or services, and increased community mobility,” Adjib said.
