President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has expressed readiness to facilitate the transition process from the current Cabinet of Indonesia Maju to the upcoming administration led by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

This stance follows the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) to reject all appeals filed regarding the Dispute of the General Election Results by candidate pairs number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, and number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

“The government supports the transition process from the current to the new administration. We will prepare for it now,” Jokowi told a press briefing in Mamuju Regency, broadcasted by the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Jokowi emphasized that the MK decision is final and binding. He mentioned that the ruling dispels recent allegations directed at the government.

“Accusations of cheating, intervention by authorities, politicization of social assistance, mobilization of authorities, and the lack of neutrality of regional heads have been proven unfounded. This is crucial for the government,” the president said.

Previously, Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, Senior Expert Staff at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), revealed that President Jokowi would lead the transition team from the Cabinet of Indonesia Maju to the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration.

Ngabalin assured that Jokowi’s central role in the transition team would ensure a smooth and timely transition period.

“In shas Allah (God willing), the transition team will be led directly by President Joko Widodo,” Ngabalin said on April 1, 2024.

However, Ngabalin emphasized that the tasks and authority of the transition team would be the prerogative of President- and Vice President-elect, Prabowo-Gibran.

“These authorities are being determined, and everything is within the president’s prerogative,” Ngabalin explained.

The central role of Jokowi even after his presidency was also mentioned by Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Vice Chairman of the National Campaign Team (TKN) for Prabowo Subianto – Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Yusril suggested that Jokowi could serve as an advisor to Prabowo-Gibran after stepping down from office starting October 20.

“It is normal even if he is not part of the government structure, he can still play a role in providing input,” Yusril said on March 20, 2024.
