Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, held a meeting with Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) in Paris on Saturday (April 14, 2024), to explore various collaboration opportunities, particularly in downstream industries.

It is reported in his Instagram account that Anindya was welcomed by Vice Chairman of MEDEF International and Special Representative of the French Foreign Minister for ASEAN Countries, Francois Corbin.

“MEDEF is like the Kadin of France. We are exploring collaboration opportunities between Indonesia and France, including accessing Indonesia’s market opportunities in the European Union and vice versa, France in the ASEAN market,” Anindya said.

He cited several discussion focuses, including sustainability efforts such as downstreaming, biodiversity, carbon financing, and renewable energy.

Anindya said the collaboration opportunity is significant, considering Indonesia’s process toward OECD membership, coupled with the country’s participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and G20.

He is optimistic that this collaboration will bring substantial benefits to the progress and prosperity of both Indonesia and France.

Earlier, Acting Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said that Kadin saw high inflation sentiment in the United States still affecting foreign investors in allocating their capital to riskier assets, especially in the financial markets. He projected that in the second half of 2024, the downward trend in the Fed’s interest rates would trigger a decline in interest rates in various other countries, leading to capital inflows into developing countries, including Indonesia.

“We still see positive sentiment domestically regarding the conducive business climate post-elections, evident from the inflow of foreign capital through the financial markets,” Yukki said.
