ESDM ministry to auction 8 mining blocks next week

A senior government official has revealed that a renewed auction on eight mineral and coal mining blocks will be held next week. 

“Next week we plan to re-auction eight more blocks,” Director of Mineral and Coal Program Development Julian Ambassadur Shiddiq said as quoted by Kontan on Monday, March 25, 2024.

Julian confirmed that the eight mineral and coal mining blocks that will be re-auctioned are blocks that failed the auction in 2023. However, Julian emphasized that there were no changes in the provisions in this re-auction.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources auctioned 19 mining blocks in 2023. A total of nine mining blocks are confirmed to have winners.

The nine mining blocks are Brang Rea Block (gold) with PT Tambang Sukses Sakti as the winner, Semidang Lagan Block (coal) by PT Kharisma Raflesia Utama, Nibung Block (coal) by PT Mustika Energi Lestari, Marimoi I Block (nickel) by PT Aneka Tambang (ANTM) and Gunung Botak Block (gold) by PT Merdeka Tambang Jaya.

Also, Kaf Block (Nickel) with PT Mineral Jaya Molagina as the winner, West Merapi Block (Coal) by PT Merapi Energy Coal, Foli Block (Nickel) by PT Wasile Jaya Lestari and Lililef Sawai Block (Nickel) by PT Aneka Tambang (ANTM).

The block auction was attended by a total of 130 participants who submitted auction requirement documents for the 19 blocks being auctioned.

In the first phase of the re-auction, there are eight mining business licenses (WIUPs) re-auctioned, namely Lolayan Block, Marimoi I Block, Gunung Botak Block, Semidang Lagan Block, Brang Rea Block, Taludaa Block, Nibung Block, and Kaf Block.

This first phase re-auction is a re-auction of the WIUP auction that was previously held in October 2023.

Meanwhile, in the second phase of the re-auction, there are Mulya Agung Block, Ulu Rawas Block, Bayung Lencir Block, Lingga Bayu Block, West Merapi Block, Tumbang Nusa Block, Pasiang Block, Pumlanga Block, Foli Block, Lililef Sawai Block, and Natai Baru Block.
