The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has put up for auction the Section 2B of the Bekasi – Cawang – Kampung Melayu Toll Road project or Becakayu Toll Road.
According to the Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE) page of the Ministry of PUPR, the auction for the Becakayu Toll Road Section 2B project is divided into 2 packages with a total value of approximately Rp5.83 trilion (US$367.6 million).
Specifically, the auction for the construction of the Becakayu Toll Road Section 2B package 1 is valued at around Rp3.59 trillion, while Section 2B package 2 is valued at about Rp2.24 trillion.
“In accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 109/2020 regarding the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation No. 3/2016 on the Acceleration of the Implementation of National Strategic Projects, the construction of the Bekasi – Cawang – Kampung Melayu Toll Road is included in the National Strategic Project, therefore sufficient fund allocation is required in the process of constructing the toll road,” the PUPR Ministry said in a brief description, as quoted on Monday, March 25, 2024.
The project is aimed at strengthening logistics capabilities in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area and West Java Province through the construction and operation of the Bekasi – Cawang – Kampung Melayu Toll Road. Thus, it is expected to contribute to economic growth by improving the investment environment.
In addition, the construction of the Becakayu Toll Road Section 2B covering Bekasi Barat – Tambun is also expected to boost the economy of communities around the toll road area, thereby enhancing logistic transportation mobilization around Jakarta and West Java.
“The target to be achieved in the Development of the Bekasi – Cawang – Kampung Melayu Toll Road Section 2B Packages 1 and 2 is to improve the road network connecting Jakarta and West Java areas, especially with the integration of the Bekasi – Cawang – Kampung Melayu Toll Road with the Jakarta – Cikampek Toll Road,” the ministry said.
Referring to the attached document of the work implementation schedule, the construction of the toll road is estimated to take 20 months or 1 year and 8 months.
The Bekasi – Kampung Melayu Toll Road, constructed with an elevated structure, stretches from the Bekasi area to the Kampung Melayu area with a total length of 16.78 km has been operational. The Becakayu Toll Road is also connected to the Ir Wiyoto Wiyono MSc Toll Road via the Pisangan Toll Gate. Currently, three sections are operational, divided into Section 1A (Casablanca-Cipinang) with a length of 3.5 km, Sections 1B and C (Cipinang-Jakasampurna) with a length of 8.4 km, and Sections 2A & 2A Ujung (Jakasampurna-Marga Jaya) with a length of 4.88 km. With the operation of the Becakayu Toll Road, the journey from Bekasi to Kampung Melayu can be completed in just 20-30 minutes. Previously, if using non-toll roads, the travel time from Bekasi to Jakarta was about 60 minutes.
