The recent China Homelife International Trade Exhibition, featuring the Building & Decoration Expo (BDExpo), Appliances & Electronic Show (AES), HomeLife Expo, Decoration & Furniture Expo (DeFu), and International Textile Expo (Intex) from March 13-16, 2024, at JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta, has sparked interest from several Chinese companies to invest in Indonesia by relocating their factories.

Larissa Zhou, General Manager of Meorient Exhibition International, revealed that during the four-day exhibition, they received numerous inquiries about plans to move factories from China to Indonesia.

For example, Chinese aluminum window and door companies have discussed with the Indonesian Building Material Entrepreneurs Association (IPBBI) their plans to develop local manufacturing plants.

Additionally, plastic product companies are also interested in opening factories in Indonesia.

With more than 400 exhibitors from China and local Indonesian producers, the exhibition showcased thousands of products including building materials, furniture, electronics, household products, and decorations.

The exhibition played a significant role not only as a product showcase but also in promoting good and sustainable bilateral trade and cooperation between China and Indonesia. This year, Meorient Exhibition International also opened the exhibition to local participants.

“Since we brought exhibition participants from China, many of them are interested in importing from Indonesia. Therefore, we also held business forums for those who want to sell products to China,” Larissa said in a media statement on March 16, 2024..

Moreover, Larissa mentioned that many exhibition visitors felt assisted in obtaining new products, innovations, and technologies at the exhibition.

Many attendees felt that the exhibition had a significant impact on developing their businesses after attending.

Previously, many Indonesian businesspeople did not have connections with manufacturers in China due to distance, time, and cost issues.

Therefore, this exhibition greatly helped businesspeople to meet directly with manufacturers or first-hand suppliers.

The four-day exhibition, attended by tens of thousands of people, received special attention from the Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (APRINDO), Roy Nicholas Mandey.

Roy said what Meorient Exhibition International did by holding this exhibition could help the Indonesian economy and serve as a platform for exchanging information, technology, and cooperation among businesspeople.

“Now there is momentum where the pandemic is over, and this is the year when we are starting to recover. It can be seen in our economic growth that is above 5 percent, inflation maintained at 2.7 percent, and it is evident when we visit exhibitions like this, we can see the enthusiasm of the people and their hope to obtain product information, some even buy directly and collaborate,” he said.

For those who missed this opportunity, there will be an international trade exhibition held from June 4 to 7, 2024, at JIExpo Kemayoran. Larissa said the next exhibition will feature more exhibitors, products, and business forums.

“We will also invite many local manufacturers from Indonesia such as electronic products, home appliances, household needs, education, baby and children’s products, textiles, and various machines used by various industries and sectors to participate in the exhibition. We will also assist local manufacturers to expand to other countries, especially China,” she said.
