State-owned energy company Pertamina has undertaken a restructuring within its subsidiaries and sub-holdings, appointing Chalid Said Salim as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE).

The move is seen as a routine initiative to bring in fresh perspectives, aiming to enhance the overall performance of the Pertamina Group, according to Vice President Corporate Communication Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso.

Chalid Said Salim, a 1990 mining engineering graduate from Brawijaya University, has a longstanding career within Pertamina. They include serving as General Manager Asset 5 at Pertamina EP from 2015 to 2017 and later as Director for Production and Operations at Pertamina EP from 2017 to 2020.

Notably, Chalid assumed the role of CEO at Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) in 2020, marking his first appointment as a CEO within the Pertamina Group.

The recent appointment as the CEO of Pertamina Hulu Energi comes after Chalid’s successful tenure as the CEO of Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) from 2023 to 2024.

Chalid has been actively contributing to the management of oil and gas assets in Kalimantan’s Regional 3, overseeing Pertamina’s upstream activities.

Chalid’s wealth has been documented through the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) wealth report. His reported wealth, starting from IDR 5.09 billion (US$ 326,473) in 2013, witnessed fluctuations and peaked at IDR 34.3 billion (US$ 2.2 million) by the end of 2022. The assets include real estate, vehicles, movable assets, and cash equivalents.

The reshuffle within Pertamina’s leadership is part of the company’s strategic efforts to foster innovation and efficiency, ensuring the continued success of one of Indonesia’s largest state-owned enterprises in the energy sector.
