Indonesia has finalized 190 National Strategic Projects (PSN) with total value of Rp 1515 billions or US$95.8 millions at the end of last year.

Wahyu Utomo,Deputy for Regional Development and Spatial Planning at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs said the achievement of the National Strategic Projects is very great because it is the priority program of the president.

“The president wants to encourage our economy, whether we want it or not , the infrastructure must be built,” Wahyu said on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

He said further that Infrastructure is closely related to economic development, that infrastructure must be encouraged.

Of the 190 national strategic projects, 153 have been completed between 2016 and 2022. Specifically in 2023, there were 37 PSNs that have been completed with a value of IDR 475.4 billion or US$9.2 billion. The construction projects consist of 7 dams, 3 ports, 5 toll roads, 4 regions, 5 railway stations, 3 airports, 1 energy project, 1 education project, 1 technology project, 5 Cross Border Posts (PLBN) and 2 electricity projects.

The PSN is considered to have a multiplier effect on the Indonesian economy, with national direct labor absorption from 2016-2023 was estimated to reach 2.71 million people.

“Various international studies say that if we want to become a developed country, our infrastructure score must reach 70 percent and Indonesia is currently only at 45 percent. This is why we want to continue to encourage our infrastructure score to increase so that by 2045 it can reach 70 percent,” he said.

Beyond that, said Wahyu, there are projects that have been partially completed, but there are also infrastructures which are still under construction.

Assistant Deputy for Acceleration and Utilization of Development at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Suroto, said the government also excluded 12 national strategic projects from the list based on the the Economic Coordinating Minister Regulation No. 8/2023.
The 12 projects are:

  1. Jakarta-Surabaya Semi Fast Train
  2. Sidan Raw Water Supply, Bali Province
  3. Rantau Prapat – Kisaran Toll Road
  4. Langsa – Lhokseumawe Toll Road

  9. Jatigede SPAM, West Java
  10. Kamijoro SPAM, Yogyakarta

  12. Tanggamus Industrial Estate, Lampung

Suroto said that the excxclusion of the 12 projects from the list is based on the evalution of technical ministries until the second semester of 2023.

“It seems that they have not progressed so the technical ministry proposed to exlude them and the President has also requested them to be excluded from the lis,” he added.
