The Indonesian government has forged a partnership with Finland aimed at boosting investment and fostering bilateral cooperation.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, said on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, that several meetings had taken place between the two nations to discuss collaboration, particularly in the energy sector. Highlighting Finland’s wealth of technological knowledge and Indonesia’s abundant population and natural resources, the Indonesian minister expressed optimism about the synergy benefiting both countries.

Minister Tasrif lured Finnish investors and businesses to actively participate in green energy projects in Indonesia, aligning with the country’s commitment to sustainable and clean energy initiatives.

Wille Werner Rydman, the Minister of Economy for Finland, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that Finnish companies could support Indonesia’s energy transition by balancing power generation through sustainable fuel.

Rydman emphasized the potential for cooperation in promoting clean and renewable energy, facilitating power plant development, enhancing smart and sustainable energy resources, and developing carbon-neutral infrastructure and transportation.

The collaboration involves various activities and programs aimed at boosting investment and fostering cooperation between Finland and Indonesian companies, with a primary focus on the energy sector.

Finland’s extensive expertise and advanced technology in clean energy and energy efficiency are expected to significantly contribute to Indonesia’s roadmap towards achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060 ‒ a goal set by Indonesia to advance global climate mitigation efforts.

Indonesia’s energy transition roadmap emphasizes the development of new renewable energy sources such as solar, water, geothermal, wind, marine energy, hydrogen, and ammonia.

The energy memorandum signed between Finland and Indonesia lays a strong foundation for expanding business collaboration and innovation.

Both nations look forward to increasing business activities in the coming years, fostering mutual growth and contributing to global efforts in combating climate change.
