President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo officially laid the foundation stone, marking the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nusantara Logistics Hub in the National Capital City (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
The logistics hub is owned by State-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia and Nusantara-owned PT Bina Karya. President Jokowi emphasized the importance of having a logistics service company in the IKN area, especially with the increasing activities and movements of people and goods in the region.
“With various businesses and offices in IKN set to start operating, the presence of a logistics hub is crucial,” said Jokowi.
He expressed hope that Nusantara Logistic Hub and Service would make significant contribution and strengthen the domestic supply chain, not only in IKN but throughout Indonesia, and eventually make logistics costs more affordable.
The President also expects the hub to accelerate and streamline logistics movements across Indonesia. During the President’s time there, activities included inaugurating the Nusantara Logistic Hub owned by PT Pos Indonesia.
The itinerary also included groundbreaking ceremonies for the National Mosque, the IKN Authority Office (OIKN), and the Memorial Park developed by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
Jokowi was also slated to inaugurate the construction of the Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) office and the radio broadcasting studio owned by Radio Republic of Indonesia (RRI) in IKN.
Additionally, the President planned to inaugurate several private infrastructure development projects, including a five-star hotel by the Jambuluwuk Group, a warehousing area by SUN Hub, and the Nusantara Warehouse Park by the local East Kalimantan company PT Wulandari Bangun Laksana.
Other projects include the Green Pesantren by BenihBaik.com, Jejakin, and Katadata Green. President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir and Presidential Advisory Council Member Gandi Sulistiyanto during the flight to the East Kalimantan Province.
