PT Pertamina Internasional EP joins forces with Buzi Hydrocarbons Pte Ltd (BHPL) to harness the potential of Mozambique’s Buzi Block in Africa.

BHPL, a subsidiary of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG) operating in Africa, has cemented this partnership through a non-binding MoU signed on August 23, 2023.

The agreement highlights both parties’ shared commitment to jointly explore and analyze the operational possibilities within the Buzi EPCC Block.

Additionally, they will collaborate in disseminating critical data pertaining to the Buzi EPCC Block, with a particular focus on studying gas fields.

It is noteworthy that BHPL holds a 75% stake in Buzi and serves as the operational leader in the Buzi Block.

Crucially, the collaboration will also explore the potential for integration across upstream, midstream, and downstream activities to harness gas production as a vital fuel source for power generation.

Energi Mega Persada enthusiastic for a leap forward

Taufan Rotorasiko, President of BHPL, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the upcoming partnership with Pertamina Internasional EP in Mozambique.

“The gas reserves within the Buzi Block can be swiftly commercialized to meet the fuel requirements of power plants in Mozambique and the surrounding region,” said Taufan.

Edoardus Ardianto, Financial Director of Energi Mega Persada, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Pertamina in unlocking the substantial gas reserves and resources within the Buzi Block.

“We are confident that Pertamina possesses the necessary capabilities to accelerate the development of our Buzi Block in Mozambique.”

Syailendra S. Bakrie, CEO of Energi Mega Persada, further elaborated on their aspirations, aiming to swiftly commence gas production from the Buzi assets in Mozambique.

“This endeavor has the potential to address the issue of gas supply shortages for power generation not only in Mozambique but also in South Africa and neighboring countries,” he emphasized.

The strategic partnership between PT Pertamina Internasional EP and BHPL represents a significant leap forward in the global energy landscape.

By pooling resources, knowledge, and expertise, these companies are poised to unlock the considerable potential of Mozambique’s gas reserves, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and secure energy future for the region.
