Harun Masiku, a former Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) legislative candidate who has been a fugitive since 2020, was reported to be residing in Cambodia.

Harun was claimed to be involved in the alleged case of gratification or promises of kickbacks to state administrators in relation to the appointment of members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2019-2024 by the General Election Commission (KPU).

Harun has been on the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) wanted person list (DPO) since 2020. Now Harun is known to be hiding abroad, and his whereabouts is unknown. Previously, Harun was rumored to be the administrator of a mosque in Malaysia.

To follow up on the latest news regarding Harun Masiku’s suspicions of being in Cambodia, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, said that the National Police had sent a request to Cambodia’s Interpol. This request was sent via channel 1-24/7 in order to clarify the latest news about Harun Masiku.

“The obligation of the country’s Interpol is to detain the subject and inform Interpol Indonesia as the country issuing or requesting the red notice,” said Ramadhan.

The Indonesian Police have yet to receive any information regarding the whereabouts of fugitive Harun Masiku. Police are still conducting an investigation.

“So far the Cambodian Interpol has not provided any information regarding rumors,” said Ahmad Ramadhan, on July 26, 2023.

On the other hand, Firli Bahuri said that currently, out of the 21 people who are on the KPK’s wanted list (DPO), 17 people have been arrested. Meanwhile, four of KPK’s fugitives are still being sought, including Harun Masiku.
