Airlangga Hartarto questioned as witness in alleged corruption case involving 3 palm oil companies

Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy was questioned by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) as a witness in a case of alleged corruption related to the granting of permits for crude palm oil (CPO) export by 3 CPO companies.

Ketut Sumedana, Head of the Center for Legal Information (Kapuspenkum) at the AGO, said that the investigation process is currently underway.

This summons is related to extracting further information on the 3 suspects of palm oil corporations including cooking oil derivatives.

“What is being explored is related to policy implementation, policy evaluation, because this is related to three companies who have been named as suspects,” he said.

Currently, the examination process is still continuing, along with other witnesses who were also summoned on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

Previously, the AGO had examined 6 witnesses including the initials SS, M, AS, J, E, and GS.

The six witnesses were from PT Musim Mas Fuji, PT Permata Hijau Palm Oleo, PT Sari Agrotama Persada, PT Megasurya Mas, and 2 from PT Musim Mas.

This investigation has also entered a new phase, previously establishing as many as 3 giant companies in the CPO sector, such as Wilmar, Musim Mas and Permata Hijau, which caused losses to the state of IDR 6.47 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has named 5 suspects so far:

  • Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana, echelon I official of the Ministry of Trade;
  • Pierre Togar Sitanggang, general manager at Musim Mas’ general affairs;
  • Master Parulian Tumanggor, commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia;
  • Stanley Ma, Permata Hijau Group’s senior manager of corporate affairs; And
  • Weibinanto Halimdjati (Lin Che Wei).
