Pertamina Group secures 9 MoUs for collaboration and development in renewable energy

Pertamina Group signed 9 MoUs for new renewable energy (NRE) business potential with various strategic partners in the fields of technology development, business and renewable energy applications in the form of projects and long-term collaborations.

The 9 MoUs consisted of 5 PT Pertamina New Renewable Energy (PNRE) MoUs, 3 PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) MoUs, and 1 Pertamina Research Technology and Innovations (RTI) MoU.

The signing was attended by Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (Kemen ESDM); Alfian Nasution, Director of Logistics & Infrastructure at Pertamina; Oki Muraza, Senior Vice President (SVP) of RTI Pertamina.

Meanwhile, other attendees included Dannif Danusaputro, Director of PNRE; Riva Siahaan, President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga; Julfi Hadi, President Director of PGE.

Pertamina signs NRE with 5 entities

PNRE signed an MoU regarding the utilization of NRE within Kereta Cepat Jakarta-Bandung area with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC). KCIC signed an MoU for the operational preparation of KCJB, one of which was for implementing NRE with Pertamina. On the other hand, KCIC also signed with 20 other companies to support KCJB.

Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, President Director of KCIC said that the collaboration was carried out on the basis of KCJB operational preparations, improving services for prospective passengers, as well as revenue streams, and having an impact on the community around KCJB.

Apart from that, PNRE also signed an MoU with the Green Ventures Investment Platform and MDI Ventures. However, it is unclear regarding the subject of the MoU.

Meanwhile, to optimize the utilization of NRE. PNRE signed an MoU regarding green ammonia using nuclear energy with a charge d’affaires Embassy of Denmark.

“The form of cooperation is green ammonia cooperation based on nuclear energy,” said Dannif Danusaputro, President Director of PNRE.

Then, to facilitate NRE transportation to Singapore, the utilization of a hydrogen transportation pipeline was built. PNRE signed with PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI).

Meanwhile, PNRE signed an MoU regarding the commercialization of carbon in the geothermal electricity production equivalent to 40 MW with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and PGE.

PGE and RTI signs MoU with 4 entities

PGE and PT Pembangunan Aceh (PEMA) signed an MoU regarding the commitment to carry out geothermal exploration and development activities in Seulawah Agam.

In managing the Seulawah Agam Mining Working Area (WKP), the two companies agreed to create a new entity, PT Geothermal Energy Seulawah. This entity was agreed upon with a composition of 75% PGE share ownership and 25% PEMA.

In addition, PGE signed an MoU with Chevron New Energy International Pte Ltd for the development of the South Sumatra Grid Resources Confirmation of 900 MW.

Meanwhile, Kaishan Group through its subsidiary KS Orka Renewables Pte Ltd (KS ORKA) signed an MoU with PGE regarding waste heat and tail water from PGE’s geothermal power plant to expand electricity production by 210 MW.

Lastly, RTI signed with Mitsui & CO to implement Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technology in the Central Sumatra area.
