Indonesia, as host of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) to be held in Bali on September 1-3, 2024, is providing a number of programs and events for participants to expand their network and international cooperation.
Director of Africa Affairs at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, said those programs and events are available in a series of side events on offer that will serve as a platform to expand networks, conduct constructive discussions, and explore the potential for cooperation, especially in the economic sector.
“This forum will also be used to exchange experiences and best practices, especially in natural resource management, bilateral and regional economic cooperation, and strengthening human resource capacity,” Meidiawaty said on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Some of the side events provided are the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF), Country Specific Business Forum, Signing of MoU on Indonesia-Kenya Artisanal Mining , Signing of MoU between PT Energi Mega Persada and Africa-based conglomerate Guma Group, Meeting of Indonesian Honorary Consuls in the African Region, Workshop on Downstreaming Mining with Value Added, Tony Blair Institute Panel Discussion on Af-CFTA, and Signing of several MoUs with an estimated value of US$3.5 billion.
The 2nd IAF invites 54 African countries to discuss the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. The organization of the 2nd IAF will be coupled with the High Level Forum on Multi Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP). The IAF 2024 is a continuation of the first IAF held in 2018, also in Bali.
The IAF aims to implement the Bandung Spirit modality initiated by the founding fathers, with a focus on economic benefits and welfare for people in Indonesia and Africa through mutually beneficial development cooperation. The 2nd IAF will strengthen collaboration in four priority sectors, namely food security, energy security, health security, and mineral security.
