Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, invites Chinese health industry professionals, particularly those in traditional medicine, to consider investing in Indonesia.

“I am offering broader investment opportunities because Tian Jin Hospital, one of the forum’s participants, excels in traditional medicine techniques,” Sandiaga said on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

He noted that Tian Jin Hospital can treat over a thousand patients daily, a significant advantage that could be introduced to the region with Bali serving as a central hub. This initiative aims to attract tourists not only from Indonesia but also from other ASEAN countries.

Sandiaga cited that in 2020, the potential for traditional medicine in Indonesia was ranked 12th globally, with a market value of US$5 trillion.

The Indonesian government is developing special economic zones focused on health, including one at Kura-Kura Sanur, which will offer various facilities, incentives, and conveniences to investors.

“The Special Economic Zone in Sanur aims to attract more than US$3 to 5 billion in total investment. This is what we are currently promoting,” Sandiaga said.

He also commended the organization of the “2024 First China-ASEAN International Forum on Traditional Medicine” in Bali, noting that it not only expands the potential for health tourism development but also strengthens Indonesia’s position, particularly Bali, as a world-class MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.

“This is part of the development of health-based tourism, and I directly invited them to hold the next forum in Bali as part of strengthening health-based tourism in Indonesia,” Sandiaga said.

Through this event, the Minister hopes to increase tourist arrivals from China, particularly attracting high-quality tourists.
