“We realize that Indonesia also wants to build its own defense industry. “We want to share our experiences in this effort,” Sandeep Chakravorty, Indian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste, said on April 30, 2024.

Chakravorty said his country wanted to partner with Indonesia for long-term collaboration in the Defense Sector.

This cooperation is through large platforms such as ships, submarines, aircraft, armored vehicles, and satellites; as well as the fields of metallurgy, hydraulics, penumatics, AI, munitions, cyber, and the overall design, research & development and exciting start-up ecosystem.

Meanwhile, some of this technology can be used multiple times for civil purposes, such as communications, or satellite positioning, cyber solutions and drones.

Chakravorty said that his country’s defense industry is currently developing rapidly under the ‘Make in India – Make for the World’ initiative.

He cited that performance and orders at Indian defense companies were at their highest point, with exports reaching a record worth US$ 2.63 billion (Rp 42.7 trillion) in 2023. He also said that India was ready to become one of the leading defense exporters in 2023. 2030.

“I am very confident that Indonesia’s defense institutions can benefit from the experience and success of its neighboring maritime country (India),” he said.

Apart from that, in the near future there will be many Indian companies visiting Indonesia that can partner and contribute to the security framework of the two countries, he added.
