President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is set to inaugurate the new State Palace at Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, tommorow, October 11, 2024.
“On the 11th, the president will visit IKN. There will be several inaugurations, including the State Palace,” Ari Dwipayana, Presidential Chief of Staff, told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The State Palace in IKN, located in the Core Government Area (KIPP) of North Penajam Paser Regency, will serve as the official residence of the president.
The palace is part of the larger Presidential Complex, which also includes the Garuda Palace, where the president’s office will be situated on a higher elevation behind the State Palace.
Investment Minister Rosan P. Roeslani said that President Jokowi will arrive at IKN’s airport on a larger aircraft, the Boeing Business Jet 737-800, marking a significant milestone in the development of the airport, which will be fully completed by December 2024 and open for public commercial flights in January 2025.
“By January, the airport will be open to the public, which will enhance connectivity efficiency,” Rosan said on Wednesday.
However, Jokowi will not sign the Presidential Decree (Keppres) formalizing the capital’s move, leaving that task to Prabowo, the president-elect, following his inauguration.
