Setyo Budiyanto, Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 formally announced Hasto Kristiyanto, Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) as suspect in an alleged bribery case against Wahyu Setiawan former General Election Commissions (KPU) Commissioner.
Previously, the investigation of this case has been going on since 2020. There were three people who were prosecuted until they were found guilty, namely, Wahyu, Agustiani Tio, Saeful, and Harun Masiku. Meanwhile, Harun Masiku is still a fugitive.
Setyo cited the role of Hasto Kristiyanto, who initially placed Harun in the First South Sumatra Electoral Zone (Dapil), so that Harun could be placed as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) through an interim replacement.
Hasto asked the Supreme Court to issue a fatwa and try to get the legislative candidate who entered the DPR through an interim replacement, Riezky Aprilia, to be replaced with Harun Masiku.
“Even Riezky’s inauguration invitation letter was withheld by HK (Hasto Kristiyanto),” said Setyo, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Former President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was earlier allegeid to be involved in the determination of Hasto as a suspect. Rony Talapessy of PDI-P’s legal division said the real reason Hasto was named a suspect was because of politicization, and resentment towards Jokowi.
“The real reason the Secretary General of the PDI Perjuangan is a suspect is political motives. Especially because the Secretary General of the PDI Perjuangan firmly stated the party’s political stance against efforts that damage democracy, the constitution, and also against interference in the abuse of power at the end of former President Joko Widodo’s rule,” he said, quoted from 20detik, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
