The National Mandate Party (PAN) has voiced its support on the proposed expansion of ministerial roles in the forthcoming Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration.

PAN’s chairman, Zulkifli Hasan, said that Indonesia’s vast territory and array of challenges necessitate consideration for an increased number of ministerial positions.

“With nearly 280 million citizens and the multitude of issues we confront, it may be advantageous to broaden and augment the scope of ministerial portfolios,” Zulkifli said in Jakarta on May 5, 2024.

He identified several PAN executives who could serve as ministers in the upcoming government.

“We have individuals like Yandri Susanto (Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly), Asman Abnur (former Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform), Eddy Soeparno (Secretary-General of PAN), and Saleh Partaonan Daulay (Chairman of the PAN Faction at the House of Representatives), among others,” he said.

Zulkifli, however, stressed that the final selection of ministers would be entirely at the discretion of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

“The appointment of ministers rests solely within the prerogative of the President,” he said.

Saleh Partaonan Daulay reiterated PAN’s steadfast loyalty and support for Prabowo. He expressed optimism that Prabowo would allocate ministerial positions for PAN members in the forthcoming cabinet.

“Nevertheless, we would be even more grateful if the entrusted responsibilities exceed our expectations,” Saleh said.
