Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, accompanied by a group of prominent business leaders, met with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 discussing investments in the new capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan.

Among the business figures present were President Director of PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Garibaldi Thohir, CEO of Bumi Resources Adika Nuraga Bakrie, Vice President Director of PT Indika Energy Aziz Armand, and Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) board member Adri Martowardojo. The meeting was also attended by Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) who is also Acting Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority.

On the occasion, Minister Rosan revealed that 16 mining companies have agreed to form a consortium to invest in various sectors within Nusantara, including theme parks, restaurants, recreational facilities, and mixed-use developments.

“There will be investments in property and potentially other sectors such as office spaces,” Rosan said after the meeting.

Garibaldi Thohir, President Director of Adaro Energy, said that the business leaders would accompany the president to visit the site of the new capital on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

“We plan to directly inspect the IKN site on Friday,” Garibaldi Thohir, known as Boy Thohir, said.

Minister Bahlil emphasized that the visit will allow the business leaders to assess the progress of the capital’s construction firsthand.

He hopes this will further encourage investment in Nusantara’s initial development phase, which spans 6,000 hectares in the core area.

“All the entrepreneurs are ready and willing to invest to accelerate the development of this critical area,” Bahlil said.
