The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has called in Iqbal Latanro, CEO of State-owned insurer PT Taspen from 2013 to 2020, as a witness in the investigation of a suspected corruption case involving fictitious investments at the state-owned company.

Ali Fikri, Head of KPK’s Media Relations, said alongside Iqbal, KPK also interrogated other witnesses.

The second witness summoned by the KPK is Genta Wira Anjalu, the Chairman of PT Insight Investments Management’s Investment Management Team in 2019, to testify in the same case.

KPK hopes both witnesses will cooperate by fulfilling the investigators’ summons to provide necessary information to the anti-corruption agency.

On March 8, 2024, the KPK announced the commencement of an investigation into suspected corruption involving fictitious investments at PT Taspen for the 2019 fiscal year.

Ali stated that the alleged corruption case is believed to involve several other companies and is suspected to have caused financial losses to the state amounting to hundreds of billion rupiahs.

The spokesperson, who has a background as a prosecutor, also revealed that KPK investigators have named several individuals as suspects in the case.

However, in accordance with the anti-corruption agency’s policy, the identities of the suspects and a detailed description of the case will be disclosed upon their arrest.

During the investigation, the KPK also imposed a travel ban on two individuals. However, the KPK did not further elaborate on the identities of those subjected to the travel ban.

The anti-corruption commission’s investigative team then conducted searches at seven different locations in the Greater Jakarta area related to the case.

Ali cited that five locations were raided on March 7, 2024 including two houses in Cipinang Besar Selatan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, one house in Menteng District, Central Jakarta, one house in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, and one apartment unit in Belleza Apartments, South Jakarta.

Meanwhile, two other locations were raided on March 8, 2024. namely a private company’s office in the Office 8 Building SCBD, South Jakarta, and the PT Taspen Office, Central Jakarta.

During the raids, evidence was found and seized. Some of the confiscated evidence includes financial investment documents and records, electronic devices, and a sum of money in foreign currency denominations, which are believed to shed light on the alleged actions of the suspects.
