Surakarta, May 5, 2024 – The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) collaborates with the Surakarta City Administration in developing regional investment through the 10th Solo Great Sale (SGS) event held at Ngarsopuro, Surakarta City, Central Java. The event was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM Ikmal Lukman, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Arsjad Rasjid, and Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa.

Secretary of the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board Ikmal Lukman appreciated the initiative of the Surakarta City administration to organize the SGS. The event is considered an economic growth driver in Surakarta City by opening new investment opportunities, increasing investment attractiveness, and fostering cooperation between the government, entrepreneurs, and the community.

“This event will create a platform that allows investors to find promising business potential in Surakarta,” Ikmal said on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa hoped that SGS could invite investment in Surakarta, and even have a big impact on the Central Java province. Teguh said that the Surakarta City administration will continue to build Surakarta’s investment agglomeration for economic development in Central Java.

“Let’s take care of Greater Solo, Surakarta City, and even Central Java province in building regional readiness for investment inflows so that it leads to the welfare of the people of Surakarta and Indonesia,” Teguh said.

Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Arsjad Rasjid also supported Kadin Surakarta chapter in building an entrepreneurial platform through collaboration with both central and regional governments. This activity is meant to support regional entrepreneurs and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Surakarta in post-Covid 19 pandemic.

This year’s Solo Great Sale takes the theme “Grebeg Investasi” with the hope of encouraging the entry of local and foreign investment to develop investment in Central Java, especially Surakarta. Since 2015, SGS is considered capable of achieving targets in entrepreneurial development, especially in 2019 with an achievement of Rp2.9 trillion (US$180.3 million), and therefore is expected to develop the local and national economy.

Based on data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, in 2023 investment realization in Surakarta City in 2023 was recorded at Rp 917.7 billion with the largest investment sectors being Other Services (Rp417.2 billion); Hotels and Restaurants (Rp163.2 billion); and Transportation, Warehouse and Telecommunications (Rp105.5 billion. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2024, Surakarta City’s investment realization was recorded at Rp434 billion.
