The organization of the Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INALAC) Business Forum in Lima, Peru on 11-13 September 2024, has won praise for opening up opportunity for market development and exploration in Latin America and Caribbean region.

“The organization of the INALAC Business Forum is an affirmation of the Indonesian government’s seriousness to continue promoting trade and investment cooperation, establishing closeness and strengthening business networks, including offering mutually beneficial business collaboration opportunities with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean,” Director General of American and European Affairs, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi, said when opening the 6th INALAC Business Forum in the Peruvian capital on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

In front of around 350 guests, including Peru’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Mera Gomez, the Mayor of Miraflores, and Ambassadors of friendly countries, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Peru and Latin American and Caribbean countries, Umar Hadi emphasized that the INALAC Business Forum in Peru is the first large-scale comprehensive business mission held by Indonesia in the Latin America and Caribbean Region.

The business forum was attended by various stakeholders, including government elements, business actors, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), civil society, academics and cultural observers from Indonesia, Peru and Latin America and the Caribbean.

The business forum, themed ‘Fostering Growth, Strengthening Society’, specifically sought to address one of the challenges related to the distance between the two regions. The large number of entrepreneurs from both regions who attended directly in Peru is proof that distance is not a major obstacle.

Peruvian Deputy Minister of Trade and Tourism, Teresa Mera Gomez, said the INALAC Business Forum is a perfect vehicle to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two regions.

“I am very pleased that Peru was chosen as the venue for the INALAC Business Forum,” she said.

INALAC Business Forum 2024 facilitated various business meetings, promotion of Indonesian and Latin America and Caribbean superior products and trade negotiations between Indonesian entrepreneurs and their counterparts from the region.

At least 46 medium to large Indonesian companies and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were present at the INALAC Business Forum Exhibition. They included Gadjah Tunggal, Sanbe Farma, Mayora, Indofood, Toyota Indonesia, Sido Muncul, Eratani, Haloni Jane, Skala Group, Oxytane and Nakula Jewelry.

A number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), namely Pertamina and PLN Indonesia Power as well as three Indonesian universities (ITS, IPB and Binus) also participated in this event.

The Indonesian entrepreneurs met with representatives from around 65 companies and potential partners from Peru and other countries in the region, namely Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Suriname and Venezuela.

INALAC Business Forum 2024 is also a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment and real innovative steps in expanding and diversifying export markets for Indonesia’s superior products.

In addition to the exhibition, the INALAC Business Forum in Peru also offered a series of business activities, ranging from business matching, business pitching, business networking, CEO Talks to community forums.
