The House of Representatives (DPR) has decided to postpone all budget efficiency discussions in each commission with ministries/institutions due to budget reconstruction policy by the government.
The postponement of such activities is stated in a Circular from the House leadership signed by Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on Friday, February 7, 2025 and disseminated to the leadership of Commission I to Commission XIII of the House.
The circular stated that there was a request to postpone the meeting to discuss budget efficiency from ministries/agencies because there would be a budget reconstruction from the government.
The government is said to be asking for time to reconstruct the budget of each ministry. Several commissions in the House were forced to postpone meetings to discuss budget efficiency.
The circular states that there is a request to postpone the meeting to discuss budget efficiency from ministries/agencies because there would be a budget reconstruction from the government.
“Hereby, the leadership of Commission I to Commission XIII of the House is requested to postpone the discussion of the efficiency of the working partner budget. If there is a commission that has conducted a discussion, it is requested to hold another meeting after the working partner receives the latest reconstruction budget,” the circular says as quoted on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Chairman of the House’s Commission VII, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, confirmed that he had received the circular. He, however, was reluctant to speculate on the reasons why the government finally asked for a postponement of the meeting to discuss budget efficiency with ministries/agencies.
“However, we are sure that the government will prepare everything well, including the allocation of this budget in all existing ministries/agencies,” Saleh said on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Hetifah Sjaifudian, Chair of Commission X of the House, said that the postponement of this meeting had been agreed upon by the government’s working partners, and they were given the opportunity to complete their respective internal budget discussions which could then be presented in the House.
Andreas Hugo, Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII, confirmed the postponement when the Commission XIII met to discuss the budget with Agus Andrianto, Minister of Immigration and Correctional Institution, but the meeting did not take place.
In addition, on Monday, February 10, 2025, Commission VII had scheduled a meeting with the Ministry of Industry. However, the Commission VII and the Industry ministry agreed to temporarily postpone the meeting. Meanwhile, the meeting with the National Standardization Agency (BSN) was also postponed on Monday afternoon.
