Hashim Djojohadikusumo, head of the Housing Task Force for president-elect Prabowo Subianto, expressed his hope that the next Minister of Public Housing will be someone open, proactive, and closely connected with property sector stakeholders.
Hashim, who is also the younger brother of Prabowo, emphasized the importance of having a minister who frequently visits the field and listens to the needs of the property industry.
“They need to often visit the field, meet with industry players, and be open,” Hashim said in Jakarta on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
While Hashim is already aware of who will fill the position, he and the government transition team are committed to keeping the information confidential until the official inauguration of the new president and vice president on October 20, 2024. He noted that last-minute changes to appointments are still possible.
“I already know the name, but I promised not to disclose it before October 20. That name could even change five minutes before the cabinet is announced,” he remarked.
Hashim is confident that under Prabowo’s leadership, the government will be able to focus on providing adequate housing for various segments of society, while also leveraging the housing sector as a driver of national economic growth.
He also expressed optimism that the strong partnership between the government and business, as seen during President Joko Widodo’s administration, would continue under Prabowo’s leadership.
Hashim added that the business community must be prepared to adapt to Prabowo’s firm leadership and deep love for Indonesia.
“The private sector must follow suit by always prioritizing the people’s interests in every business decision they make,” he concluded.
