Maman Abdurahhman, Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has revealed that the government is currently planning to form an MSME holding to create a domestic MSME supply chain.

Taking an example of what has been done in other countries such as India, China, South Korea, and Japan, Maman assessed that an MSME holding needs to be formed in Indonesia to advance the sector which is also in line with large industries.

“We want to build an MSME ecosystem that integrates MSMEs with large industries in the context of their supply chains. Well, one of the mediations to encourage all of that is by creating an MSME holding,” he said on Monday, December 16, 2024.

Later, the MSME holding in Indonesia will be related to at least 10 strategic sectors. However, he said that currently his party is still reviewing which sectors will be affiliated with the plan to form an MSME holding.

“Of course it will involve certain parties such as academics, friends from Apindo (Indonesian Employers Association), Apindo entrepreneurs and all sorts, we will study it so that in the MSME holding it will involve one large super ecosystem, MSME approximately 3,000-4,000 MSMEs, consolidated by one MSME holding so that the supply chain is built,” he added.

Regarding the financing institution for the planned MSME holding, Maman said that the possibility of the institution could be through the government or the private sector to build a Public Service Agency (BLU) for financing MSME holding.

“We are discussing it, it can later be through financing from the government, through what we will build earlier, BLU financing, it can also be from the private sector, because the principle is B to B and transparent of course, so we will involve all parties,” he said.
