Finnish Ambassador to Indonesia, Pekka Kaihilahti, has expressed his country’s interest to build a data center in Indonesia during a meeting with Minister of Communication and Digital Application (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Meutya said the meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation in the digital sector, including the development of data centers and the transfer of technological knowledge.
She told the Finnish ambassador the importance of international cooperation to support the acceleration of national digital transformation.
“We know that Finland has expertise in digital innovation, while Indonesia is in a very dynamic condition with a growing digital economy. Of course we welcome this collaboration,” Meutya said.
This collaboration, which includes the transfer of knowledge and technology from Finland, is expected to strengthen the capacity of human resources in Indonesia to produce its own technology and become a global player in the digital sector.
Ambassador Pekka said Finland has the experience in building efficient digital systems and is willing to share knowledge through training, technical assistance, and strategic collaboration.
“We not only offer technology but also experience and expertise in building digital infrastructure and empowering human resources. We believe this collaboration can have a big impact on both countries,” he said.
The transfer of knowledge from Finland is expected to improve Indonesia’s domestic capabilities in developing modern data centers, strengthening the digital ecosystem, and connecting communities to remote areas.
