Indonesia – Peru Agreed To Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto and Peru President Dina Boluarte agreed to extend cooperation in cultural and economic sectors. Prabowo said that Indonesia will open market acces for Peru products.

“ We hope that we can built a strong bilateral relationship in the context of multilateral relartionship. Indonesia as part of ASEAN will continue to support Peru’s participation in ASEAN,” said Prabowo Subianto as quoted in a statement on Friday, November 15,2024.

President Prabowo arrived in Lima,Peru on Thursday, November 14,2024 to attend Asia Pacific Ecomic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

In addition to this, both countries have commitment to finalise Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEPA) in the next six month. President Prabowo is optimistic that the agreement will be signed during the visit of Boularte to Indonesia along with his delegation.

The meeting covered talks about cooperation in eradications of narcotics as well as the common views of the two countries in the international arena. As countries bordering the Pacific Ocean, both Indonesia and Peru have an interest in maintaining peace
and stability in the Pacific region.

“We are Pacific countries. We have an interest in peace and stability in the Pacific region. President Dina Boluarte once again thank you very much,” President Prabowo said.

“Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru” Award

During his official visit to Peru, Prabowo Subianto, was awarded the highest honor “Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru” by the Peruvian Government.
The award was given in an official ceremony at the Government Palace, Lima, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, which was presented directly by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and witnessed by local high-ranking officials.

The “El Sol del Perú” award, originally named “Orden del Sol”, is known as Peru’s highest honor, and is awarded in recognition of outstanding services rendered to the Peruvian state and nation. This award, with the highest grade of Grand Cross, is usually given to Heads of State of friendly countries or international figures who are universally recognized for their contributions. This award symbolizes the deep friendship and respect between Indonesia and Peru.

As the Grand Cross, President Prabowo received the Grand Necklace with Diamond Circle. This coat of honor is specially designed with an 80 mm diameter sun-shaped plate that reflects the glory of “El Sol del Perú.”

In the center of the coat of arms, there is a disk with a relief of the Peruvian coat of arms, surrounded by red and white enamel with the words “El Sol del Perú” and the year of Peruvian independence, “1821,” to commemorate the history of Peruvian independence. The series is completed with green palm and laurel branches, symbolizing the peace and glory of the Peruvian nation.

Responding to the award, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the honor given by the Peruvian Government. He also emphasized Indonesia’s commitment in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields with Peru, and hoped for stronger relations in the future.

“This is a great honor. Thank you very much, President,” President Prabowo said in a joint press statement.

Prabowo Subianto, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome given by the President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte. The Head of State stated that this was the right moment to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

“This is my first official visit as President of the Republic of Indonesia to Peru. And this is a good momentum to strengthen this relationship,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo also invited President Dina Boluarte to make an official visit to Indonesia next year. The visit is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru.

“I invite the President of the Republic of Peru to visit Indonesia officially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary,” President Prabowo said.
