PT Chandra Shipping International (CSI), a subsidiary of PT Chandra Daya Investasi (CDI) in the shipping and logistics sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) to explore a feasibility study for potential collaboration in chemical, bitumen, and other maritime transport and logistics operations.
CSI, as part of the Chandra Asri Group, focuses on infrastructure development, including energy, water, port services, and shipping.
The partnership is expected to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and global reach in maritime transport, supporting both companies in optimizing their operations.
The MoU was signed by Lingga Widastri, President Director of CSI, and Arief Sukmara, Director of Gas, Petrochemicals, and New Business at PIS. The signing was witnessed by Ruly Aryawan, Director of Supply Chain at Chandra Asri Group, and Muhamad Resa, Director of Risk Management at PIS, in Jakarta on Friday, October 4, 2024.
This potential collaboration aims to elevate service standards, particularly in chemical, bitumen, and other maritime logistics transportation.
Additionally, the partnership is expected to contribute to environmental sustainability through the adoption of eco-friendly technologies.
Erwin Ciputra, President Director of Chandra Asri Group and CEO of CDI, emphasized that this partnership seeks to significantly enhance maritime transport services by leveraging efficient and sustainable shipping solutions.
“This initiative is expected to not only improve Chandra Asri Group’s ability to deliver products more efficiently but also enable various industries to benefit from the global maritime services we offer,” he said as quoted on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Arief Sukmara of PIS highlighted that the collaboration would strengthen Pertamina International Shipping’s position in both domestic and international markets, particularly in the petrochemical transportation sector and other industrial segments.
The feasibility study will focus on exploring ways to synergize supply chain operations, optimize technology, and integrate eco-friendly solutions to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
Both parties hope this study will set new benchmarks in the maritime logistics sector, foster innovation, and improve industry standards in Indonesia’s maritime sector.
