Prabowo discusses defense cooperation with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah

Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto was in Bandar Seri Begawan on Thursday, September 5, 2024, for a meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah discussing efforts to to strengthen bilateral relations and defense cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.

In the meeting, Prabowo expressed Indonesia’s intention of exploring opportunities for cooperation with Brunei in the defense industry. He also invited more Brunei military personnel to continue their studies in Indonesia in the future.

“We are pleased to invite officers of the Brunei Armed Forces to enroll in the master’s program offered at the Indonesian Defense University,” Prabowo said in a statement as quoted on Thursday.

Brunei has previously sent one officer, who graduated in 2014. To date, the university has accepted students from countries like Australia, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Laos. Several programs are available for Brunei officers, including Defense Management, Asymmetric Warfare, and Defense Diplomacy.
