Indonesia to deploy military health workers on Gaza humanitarian mission

Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto briefed on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 40 Indonesian Military (TNI) health personnel who will soon depart for Gaza, Palestine, on a humanitarian mission.

Twenty-five of the 40 TNI health personnel consisting of doctors, nurses, midwives and other medical personnel will be assigned to the United Arab Emirates Floating Hospital for the Gaza humanitarian mission and will depart on Friday, August 9, 2024 The rest will be dispatched following security-related developments.

The TNI health workers will be assigned for four months in the El Arish region, Egypt, in accordances with the development of the situation in Gaza.

“What happened in Gaza, Middle East, is something that pierces our humanity. The Indonesian people must show an attitude of solidarity, an attitude of humanity in order to defend the spirit of independence, the right of the nation to live and determine its own destiny without oppression,” Prabowo said while briefing the TNI heath personnel at the Ministry of Defense.

“That’s why I thank you for your willingness. Good luck everyone,” he added.

Director General of Defense Strategy at the Defense Ministry, Major General Ujang Darwis, said that the field facilities, including the accommodation and supporting infrastructure, are complete and in good condition.
