IHC, Singhealth seals deal collaboration to improve patient care

PT Pertamina Bina Medika, an Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) and holding of state-owned hospitals, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SingHealth, Singapore’s largest public healthcare group, on cross-sharing of clinical practices, innovations, training to improve the quality of healthcare services.

The MoU was signed by IHC President Director, Mira Dyah Wahyuni, and Ng Wai Hoe, Group CEO of SingHealth, at The Meru Bali, witnessed by Singapore’s Minister of Health, Ong Ye Kung who was specially present during his visit to accompany the Prime Minister of Singapore in Bogor. He was accompanied by Kenneth Kwek, CEO of Singapore General Hospital (SGH) as well as representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, and Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.

SingHealth, with its acute hospitals, national specialist centres, community hospitals and polyclinics, is known for high-quality healthcare services. For example, Singapore SGH, SingHealth’s largest acute tertiary hospital in Singapore provides comprehensive patient-centerd care with more than 50 clinical specialities on its campus and is ranked number 11 in the world by 2024 according to Newsweek.

Through this MoU, IHC will gain access to SingHealth’s knowledge and expertise in areas such as hospital management, staff training, and research and development.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen IHC’s position as a medical tourism destination, especially Bali International Hospital (BIH). The collaboration covers clinical capacity building, transformation in nursing care services, and patient journey.

“With the signing of this MoU, IHC enters a new era of collaboration that will bring great benefits to both IHC and the people of Indonesia,” Mira Dyah Wahyuni said.

The collaboration will target three strategic priority areas. First is Clinical Excellence, which underlines the importance of quality, patient safety, and research based on evidence-based practice. Second is Operational Excellence, which focuses on improving customer experience through innovation and transformation. Finally, People Excellence will concentrate on the continuous development of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and management.

This includes initiatives such as training for doctors and nurses, joint research, complex case management, and collaborative activities in medical education and professional development.

“This partnership with SingHealth is an important step in IHC’s commitment to provide the best healthcare services in hospitals and clinics under the IHC network,” Mira said.

Ther collaboration is expected to lay the foundation for a broader transformation in Indonesia’s healthcare system, by providing access to the best practices and latest knowledge in the global healthcare industry.
