Minister reveals update on IKN basic infrastructure development

Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono has provided an update on the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project development throughout 2023 to the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission V, highlighting the support for basic infrastructure development for the capital city at Rp24.97 trillion (US$1.7 billion).

“In 2023, support for basic infrastructure for IKN was allocated at Rp24.97 trillion,” Basuki told a hearing with Commission V of the DPR on Monday, April 1, 2024.

This budget was allocated for the construction of the Sepaku Semoi Dam, which is currently completed, the construction of the raw water intake from the Sepaku River, reservoirs in the Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP), the Mentawir Reservoir, and main drainage.

Furthermore, Basuki said that a budget of Rp11.43 trillion was allocated for the Directorate General of Highways to continue the construction of toll roads in IKN, logistic roadworks in the Core Area of Government Center (KIPP), and the construction of the national axis roads on the east and west sides.

“Then, the construction of the Sepaku ring road, access roads to the Mentawir planting area, construction of the IKN airport, and logistics dock construction,” Basuki said.

For the Directorate General of Spatial Planning, a budget of Rp8.29 trillion was allocated for the arrangement of National Axes I and II, the arrangement of the Triparja Axis, Land Development in zones 1A, 1B, and 1C, and KIPP development.

Then, the construction of the Presidential Office and Palace, the construction of the Coordinating Ministry buildings (1,2,3, and 4), wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and its networks, WWTP and its networks, and TPST.

For the Directorate General of Housing, a budget of Rp4.24 trillion was allocated for the construction of construction workers housing, ministerial residential plots, and housing for civil servants (ASN) of the Indonesian Military/Natinal Policei.

“The Directorate General of Construction Engineering conducts training and certification of construction workers at IKN, procurement management of goods and services related to IKN task forces,” Basuki said.
