Muslim Arbi, a political and legal analyst, has asked the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to promptly examine President Joko Widodo’s youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, for allegedly receiving illicit funds related to corruption at State-owned tin mining giant PT Timah.

“Helen Lim, as the Manager of PT QSE (Quantum Skyline Exchange), has been declared a suspect. She is known to have connections with various individuals, including Kaesang. The Attorney General’s Office  needs to interrogate Kaesang regarding the suspected receipt of corrupt funds from PT Timah,” Muslim said on March 28, 2024 as quoted by suaranasional.com.

According to Muslim, Helen Lim took actions to approach officials to evade legal repercussions.

“Helen Lim must provide honest testimony before AGO investigators,” he added.

Muslim emphasized that AGO should not hesitate to investigate Kaesang over allegations of receiving corrupt funds from PT Timah.

“Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law. Justice must not be selective,” he emphasized.

In an official statement released on March 26, 2024, the Investigation Team at the Directorate of Investigation of the office of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes elevated the status of one witness to a suspect, identified as HLN or Helena Lim, the Manager of PT QSE.

“To date, the Investigative Team has examined a total of 142 witnesses in this case,” Ketut Sumedana, AGO spokesman, said on March 27, 2024.

Furthermore, Ketut announced the modus operandi and role of the so-called Crazy Rich PIK in the alleged tin corruption case. Here are the details:

– Between 2018 and 2019, the suspect HLN, as the Manager of PT QSE, allegedly facilitated the management of proceeds from criminal acts of leasing tin smelting processing equipment in the IUP area of PT Timah;

– This action was carried out by providing facilities to smelter owners under the pretext of receiving or distributing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, which ultimately benefited the suspect and other previously detained individuals.

HLN is charged under Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 concerning Corruption Eradication in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code.

“Subsequently, the suspect HLN was detained at the Salemba Penitentiary for the next 20 days, starting from March 26, 2024, until April 14, 2024,” Ketut said.

Helena Lim, famously known as the crazy rich from PIK, is widely recognized as a successful and affluent entrepreneur who often displays extravagance.

This is evident in Helena’s fashion choices. During an appearance on Kaesang’s podcast, Helena wore clothing worth IDR 40 million (US$ 2,500).

Additionally, she adorned herself with earrings worth IDR 5 billion and a bracelet valued at IDR 70 million. Not to mention, she sported a watch worth IDR 2 billion.
