During his term as President, Joko Widodo has successfully completed 170 National Strategic Projects (PSN).

Airlangga Hartanto, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, reported that the total value of currently inaugurated PSN projects amounts to IDR 1,299.41 trillion. As of October 4, 2023, there are 17 projects government projects valued at IDR 259.41 trillion have been inaugurated, including significant ones like the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train, Jabodebek LRT, and several toll roads.

In the remaining months of 2023, there are 16 more projects set to be inaugurated, with a total value of IDR 179.46 trillion.

Looking ahead to 2024, from the beginning of the year until October, which marks the end of Jokowi’s final term, 25 projects with a total value of IDR 151.58 trillion are scheduled to be inaugurated.

Additionally, between October and December 2024, 12 more projects with a total value amounting to IDR 23.45 trillion are planned for inauguration, including toll roads, industrial areas, airports, the Benoa Marine Tourism Hub, and various Islamic university campuses.

Projects removed from national strategic list

However, despite the high number of projects to be inaugurated, several construction projects have been removed from the national strategic project list.

One of the removed projects is the Trans Sumatra Toll Road construction projects, which according to Airlangga, received little to no budget allocation from the government.

Airlangga further added that several projects that will no longer be part of the national strategic list, includes the New Ambon Port, the Industrial Estate in Tanggamus, raw water supply projects in Bali Province, and various drinking water supply system facilities.

Furthermore, Airlangga proposed several new strategic projects with a focus on the development of smelters and the development of the Genting oil and gas field.

He mentioned that many of these new projects would have a predominantly private nature, with one notable example being the Borneo Alumina smelter project in West Kalimantan.
