The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has issued its first public statement after the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) conducted raids on the homes of several tax officials as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in tax processing between 2016 and 2020.

DJP spokesman Rosmauli said the institution is still awaiting formal clarification from the AGO before providing further details to the public.

"We are currently awaiting official information from the relevant agencies. We will provide further updates once official information is available to the public,” she said s quoted in a statement on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Rosmauli stressed that the DJP fully respects the ongoing legal process, adding that firm law enforcement is essential to maintaining the institution’s credibility.

“We fully respect the independent legal process and we believe that law enforcement is an important part of maintaining the integrity of our institution,” she said.

AGO spokesman Anang Supriatna confirmed that prosecutors carried out searches at multiple locations as part of a corruption investigation into alleged illicit reductions of tax obligations for both corporate and individual taxpayers.

“It is true that there have been legal actions in the form of searches in several places related to alleged criminal acts of corruption in reducing the tax payment obligations of companies and taxpayers in 2016-2020,” Anang told reporters on Monday, November 17, 2025.

He added that the case involves personnel from the DJP, though he declined to disclose details on the alleged scheme or identify the officials under scrutiny.

“It was allegedly committed by individuals or tax officials at the Directorate of Taxes, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

Anang confirmed that the case has entered the formal investigation stage, meaning investigators are now collecting evidence to substantiate criminal charges related to tax manipulation.

For now, the DJP maintains that it will cooperate with investigators and allow the AGO to lead the process independently.
