The Special Crimes Investigation Team of the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutors’ Office has conducted a search operation at the headquarters of state-owned aluminium producer PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) in Kuala Tanjung, Batubara Regency, in relation with the investigation into an alleged corruption case involving the company’s 2019 aluminium sales.

Spokesman of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), Anang Supriatna, confirmed that the search was linked to suspected irregularities in the 2019 sale of aluminium to PT Prima Alloy Steel Universal (PASU).

“This is part of efforts to uncover alleged corruption in the 2019 aluminium sales by PT Inalum to PT PASU,” Anang said as quoted in a statement on Friday, November 14, 2025.

He noted that investigators carried out searches at several locations within the Inalum office complex on Thursday, November 13, 2025 with the operation lasting more than five hours − from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Areas searched included the offices of the Finance Director, Strategic Services Director, Production Director, Managing Director, Business Development, Human Capital Director, the Head of Logistics/Procurement, and the company’s document archive room.

Anang cited that the search was part of ongoing efforts to deepen the investigation, as the targeted rooms were believed to contain documents related to the aluminium sales process − from planning to payment. Investigators seized multiple documents in the operation.

“Several documents were taken, including letters on sales delivery for aluminium shipped by Inalum to PT PASU, financial reports, and other materials believed to be closely related to the alleged criminal act under investigation,” he said.

Anang added that the operation is expected to help strengthen the overall evidence needed in the case.

“Following the search, we hope to complete the evidence required so the handling of this alleged corruption case becomes clearer,” he said.
