The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor and maintain communication with Indonesian citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla voyage.

According to the latest communication on October 2, 2025, Muhammad Husein, an Indonesian national currently aboard the flotilla, is on a journey toward Cyprus. The ministry confirmed that Husein is in good health.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and are in constant contact with the Indonesian nationals aboard the flotilla. Our embassy in Rome, which has jurisdiction over Cyprus, has deployed personnel to Cyprus to provide any necessary assistance.”Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, said on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the safety and well-being of Indonesian citizens abroad remain a top priority. The ministry will continue to work closely with the relevant embassies and consular services to ensure support is provided as needed.

Condemnation

The Indonesian Global Peace Convoy (IGPC) has condemned the hijacking of dozens of humanitarian ships that are part of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) on the evening of October 1, 2025, in international waters off the coast of the Mediterranean.

“The incident involved the abduction of hundreds of humanitarian activists from various countries by the Israeli Zionist Navy,” Husein, who is also IGPC Coordinator, said in a statement on Friday, October 3, 2025.

IGPC, a humanitarian consortium in Indonesia affiliated with the Global Sumud Flotilla movement, described the attack as a barbaric and reckless action by the Israeli military against a peaceful humanitarian mission. The mission’s primary objective was to break the illegal blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza and open a humanitarian corridor via the sea.

The IGPC emphasized the following key points:

1. Peaceful Initiative: The Global Sumud Flotilla is a non-violent initiative aimed at lifting the illegal blockade and delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, which is currently facing a genocide.

2. Violation of International Law: The interception, seizure of ships, and kidnapping of international activists by the Israeli military represent serious violations of international humanitarian law and international maritime law.

3. Immediate Release of Activists: IGPC demands the immediate and unconditional release of all abducted activists and the withdrawal of Israeli warships that blocked the GSF convoy.

4. End of Humanitarian Blockade: IGPC calls for an immediate end to the humanitarian blockade on Gaza and the withdrawal of all Israeli military forces from Palestinian territory. All men, women, children, and elderly residents have the right to protection and humanitarian assistance for a dignified life.

5. Political and Diplomatic Pressure: IGPC urges the Indonesian Government and all nations to exert political and diplomatic pressure on Israel and take concrete steps to stop the genocide in Gaza.

IGPC reaffirms that humanitarian efforts must not be silenced by violence and calls on the international community to act to stop the war crimes committed by Israel.
