President Prabowo Subianto addressed the High-Level International Conference for Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue and Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, September 22, 2025, calling for an end to the tragedy in Gaza and reaffirming support for the proposed solution.

Opening his speech, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to the Governments of France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their leadership in organizing the event.

The President then shared his deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. "Thousands of innocent lives, many of them women and children, have been lost. Famine is threatening. A humanitarian disaster is unfolding before our eyes. We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians," Prabowo said.

He emphasized that historical responsibility of the international community extends beyond the future of Palestine, but also concerns the future of Israel and the credibility of the United Nations itself. He reaffirmed Indonesia's consistent commitment to a two-state solution as the only path to peace.

“Therefore, Indonesia reiterates its commitment to the two-state solution on the Palestinian issue. Only this solution will bring peace,” he stressed.

"We must guarantee Palestinian statehood, but Indonesia also declares that once Israel recognizes the independence and statehood of Palestine, Indonesia will immediately recognize the State of Israel and will support all security guarantees for Israel," he added.

In his speech, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of the New York Declaration, which is seen as a vital step toward a fair and peaceful resolution. According to him, the recognition of statehood must bring genuine peace for all parties involved.

He further appreciated the actions of several major countries that have recognized Palestine, including France, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.

"The recognition of the State of Palestine is the right step on the right side of history. For those who have yet to act, we say history is not finished," he remarked.

President Prabowo concluded by stressing that ending the war in Gaza must be the world's top priority. Indonesia is ready to actively contribute, including by sending peacekeeping forces under a United Nations mandate.

"We must overcome hatred, fear, and suspicion. We must achieve the peace humanity needs. We are ready to be part of this journey toward peace. We are willing to provide peacekeeping forces," Prabowo said.

Addressing a videotaped statement from New York, Foreign Minister Sugiono who accompanied the President at the event, emphasized that Indonesia stands firmly with countries that have recognized Palestine's sovereignty, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Portugal, Canada, and France, calling these steps "correct and historic" in the pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

“Indonesia has consistently backed the cause of Palestine, and today we reaffirm our unwavering support for a two-state solution,” Sugiono said on Tuesday September 23, 2025. "We believe this is a step forward in the right direction for peace and justice."

Following the speech, President Prabowo met with King Abdullah of Jordan to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza and regional responses, emphasizing alignment with regional views on the solution. The Indonesian President also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, reiterating Indonesia’s support for strengthening the UN and its role in global peacekeeping efforts.

President Prabowo is scheduled to make a national statement tomorrow during the UN General Debate, further underscoring Indonesia’s role in global peace efforts.
