President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing, China, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 upon their attendance at the 80th Anniversary of China’s Victory in World War II.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the meeting was aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the fields of economy and investment.
In addition to Putin, Prabowo also held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
“Each meeting focused on following up and ensuring the progress of various economic investments already underway between the countries,” Teddy said as quoted in a press statement on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
The presidential visit was brief, with Prabowo scheduled to return to Jakarta the same evening.
“The President will be back in Jakarta tonight,” Teddy confirmed.
Earlier that day, Prabowo attended China’s military parade at Tiananmen Square, a display of military strength marking 80 years since China’s victory over Japan in World War II.
According to China’s state news agency Xinhua, Prabowo also joined a group photo session with other international guests. He was seen in the front row alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
Other world leaders present included Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
