President Prabowo Subianto attended the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance, held at Tian’anmen Square in Beijing on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
The high-profile celebration, which drew 26 heads of state and government, highlighted Indonesia’s active participation in a historic international gathering.
Upon his arrival, President Prabowo walked past the guard of honor before entering the leaders’ lounge. He was warmly welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madam Peng Liyuan prior to the official group photo session. In the photo, President Prabowo stood next to Russian President Vladimir Putin, reflecting Indonesia’s important and respected position on the global stage.
From the Tian’anmen Rostrum, President Prabowo sat alongside President Putin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang as they watched the military parade and cultural performances marking the once-in-a-decade commemoration. Among other leaders in attendance were Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Also present were heads of international organizations, including New Development Bank (NDB) President Dilma Rousseff.
Throughout the event, President Prabowo was seen engaging in conversations with various world leaders, underscoring Indonesia’s role in global diplomacy. Following the parade, he joined fellow leaders at the Great Hall of the People for a reception hosted by President Xi.
The celebration concluded with Chinese cultural and artistic performances. President Prabowo’s presence in Beijing reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to fostering strong ties with partner nations and strengthening its diplomatic role in international affairs.
