Minister of Communication and Digital Application Meutya V. Hafid has revealed that the government is targeting the construction of a permanent National Data Center (PDN) in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, which will be operational starting April 2025.
"We originally wanted [to have the PDN operational] in March, but it is the holy month of Ramadan. Hopefully it will not deviate from March, at the latest April," Meutya said on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The PDN has been built since 2022 under a Government-to-Government (G-to-G) financing scheme with the French government. The Indonesian government received a loan of EUR€16,679,680 (Rp2.7 trillion).
Initially, PDN Cikarang was targeted to be completed on Indonesia's Independence Day celebration on August 17, 2024 and officially opened by the 7th President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. However, the plan was delayed.
PDN Cikarang has a 25 thousand core processor, 200 terabit memory, maximum storage capacity of 40 petabytes (40 million gigabits) and an electricity capacity of 20 Megawatts (MW) which can be increased to 80 MW.
The facility will be supported by internal and external security systems. It will use the highest standards at the global level, namely Tier 4, which ensures an uninterrupted network and uses a world standard water cooling system.
Meanwhile, the area around the PDN Cikarang area will be focused on providing high-level cloud computing and industrial services.
The whole facility sits on a five-hectare plot of land, with a building area of almost 16 thousand square meters.
