Indonesia’s Garuda Contingent uses its Pindad SS2 riffle for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) joint shooting exercise with Finnish peacekeepers using its Valmet RK 62/M76. Indonesia has since conducted UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon following the Lebanon War in 2006.

Vale Indonesia, China's Huayou develop nickel smelter in South Sulawesi

Nickel mining company PT Vale Indonesia Tbk has agreed to collaborate with China's Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co. Ltd. to develop a smelter with High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) technology in Sorowako, South Sulawesi. The two companies’ cooperation has started early this year. Huayou conducted the feasibility study, which has resulted in a positive outcome.

Russia's offers cheap oil to Indonesia sparks pro and contra issues

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that Russia offered Indonesia 30 percent lower oil prices than the international market and that India had previously purchased the oil from Russia. Sandiaga said President Jokowi wanted to accept the offer but several ministers refused because purchasing Russian oil would result in a U.S. embargo.
