Indonesia and Croatia have agreed to boost their bilateral trade value following a meeting between Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman in Jakarta on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$144.8 million in 2024. With the upcoming signing of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA), both ministers expressed optimism that trade volumes could double in the coming years.

“The I-EU CEPA will contribute to expanding and diversifying Indonesia–Croatia trade, while opening new opportunities for cooperation in the energy, digital economy, and manufacturing sectors,” Minister Sugiono said.

Beyond trade, the ministers also discussed investment opportunities in food security, agricultural development, and industrial downstreaming as part of efforts to strengthen economic cooperation.

They further highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships in education, socio-cultural exchanges, and labor cooperation.

“Both countries see significant potential to enhance university-to-university collaboration, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM),” Sugiono noted.

On regional and global issues, Indonesia welcomed Croatia’s efforts to deepen engagement with ASEAN, including its plan to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC).

In the meeting, the two ministers also discussed cooperation in promoting global stability, security, and peace − including the situation in Palestine. Minister Radman’s visit is expected to lay a foundation for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership, while strengthening the role of Indonesia and Croatia as bridges between regions.
