SMI allocates Rp26.9 trillion for renewable energy financing
State-owned infrastructure financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur or PT SMI has disbursed Rp26.9 trillion (US$1.6 billion) in financing for the new and renewable energy sector, making it the second-largest recipient of the firm’s funding commitments.
As of September 2025, PT SMI recorded a total financing and investment commitment of Rp74.2 trillion to business entities, distributed across multiple sectors as follows:
● Roads and toll roads: 34.42 percent or Rp41.13 trillion;
● New and renewable energy: 22.54 percent or Rp26.93 trillion;
● Transportation: 12.1 percent or Rp14.46 trillion;
● Electric power: 11.7 percent or Rp13.99 trillion;
● Finance: 6.91 percent or Rp8.26 trillion;
● Telecommunications: 4.03 percent or Rp4.82 trillion;
● Oil and gas: 3.28 percent or Rp3.92 trillion;
● Water supply: 2.56 percent or Rp3.06 trillion;
● Social infrastructure: 2.45 percent or Rp2.93 trillion.
SMI President Director, Reynaldi Hermansjah, said that roads and toll roads, renewable energy, and transportation remain the company’s strategic financing priorities.
“As a fiscal tool of the government, PT SMI is committed to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. We have also obtained accreditation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF),” Reynaldi told a media gathering in North Sumatra on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Meanwhile, PT SMI’s financing and investment for local governments (Pemda) reached Rp 17.6 trillion, distributed across key areas:
● Roads and bridges: 57.59 percent;
● Water resources: 12.69 percent;
● Health: 6.2 percent;
● Housing: 6.02 percent;
● Education: 5.67 percent;
● Food: 3.48 percent;
● Trade: 1.95 percent;
● Public lighting: 1.49 percent;
● Tourism: 1.19 percent;
● Other sectors: 3.71 percent.
Reynaldi added that PT SMI’s green energy financing portfolio covers commitments, outstanding loans, and ongoing projects aimed at supporting Indonesia’s energy transition.
The company has also been committed Rp120.5 trillion in financing for 120 National Strategic Projects (PSN) valued at Rp677.5 trillion as of September 2025. These include:
● 39 road and toll road projects;
● 59 power generation projects;
● 9 transportation projects;
● 7 dam and irrigation projects;
● 2 telecommunications projects;
● 3 water supply projects;
● 1 oil and gas project.
Reynaldi emphasized that PT SMI’s financing direction aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s national development agenda, particularly contributing to five of the eight Astacita visions, through large-scale infrastructure projects across Indonesia.
